Shola In Top Toon Striker Shock

Well the day has come, I have to admit that Shola Ameobi is Newcastle United’s number one striker.

Admittedly the competition is a bit thin on the ground and it relies on Demba Ba’s exclusion due to not being on this continent at the moment, plus Ben Arfa not being counted as an out and out striker.

Not sure whether it’s worth even talking about Nile Ranger, very limited results on the pitch despite clearly having some ability, his numerous brushes with the law/civilisation putting the final nails into his usefulness for Newcastle.

Next up Peter Lovenkrands (‘Rubbish Pants’ to his friends), seems a decent all round bloke and a trier, trouble is you could claim that about half the crowd.

The only other candidate, step forward Leon Worst.

I keep thinking ‘he’s not that bad, been injured etc. – he’ll come back to form’.

Truth is he is hopeless and against Blackburn he signed his own confession, on paper putting him up top with Ben Arfa just behind sounded pretty good.

However, once again his movement was shocking, being first to the ball a foreign language and intelligent runs….hmmm.

So enter Shola Ameobi with 35 minutes left, goes up front and alongside Leon he looks decent.

Quicker to the ball, better runs, more effective.

It might not be much of a title at the moment but here goes; Shola Ameobi – I hereby declare you to be Newcastle United’s finest striker….until Demba steps off the plane that is, or god forbid we actually buy another proper forward to play with Ba.
